چکیده

Erratum After publication of the original article [1], the authors found that there was an error in describing "hyperemia", one of the three parameters of the macroscopic grading system of synovitis in the "Methods" section, an important description for the study. In the final third of the second paragraph of the "Macroscopic assessment of synovitis with arthroscopy" subsection of the "Methods" section, the description of the "hyperemia grade" should not have included grade 2. Hyperemia has only 0 or 1 grade, and thus should have appeared as follows: "Hyperemia represents the vascularity of synovial villi and was evaluated based on the redness of the villi; 0, pale and transparent to slightly reddish; 1, definitely red. If not apparent, hyperemia was determined with the harvested synovial tissue."

Macroscopic and microscopic assessments of the glenohumeral and subacromial synovitis in rotator cuff disease

BACKGROUND Whereas synovitis is one of most common findings during arthroscopic surgery in patients with rotator cuff diseases, no study has investigated its characteristics. We propose a macroscopic assessment system for investigating the characteristics of synovitis. METHODS Fifty-four patients with a full-thickness rotator cuff tear undergoing arthroscopic rotator cuff repair with an avera...

Treatment of Massive Irreparable Rotator Cuff Tear with Arthroscopic Subacromial Bursectomy, Biceps Tenotomy, and Tuberoplasty

Background: The alternative surgery for massive and irreparable shoulder rotator cuff tears in older patients is thedebridement of subacromial bursa, biceps tenotomy, and tuberoplasty (reverse acromioplasty). This study aimed toreport the effectiveness of such a treatment performed arthroscopically in a small group of patients for a short periodof time. Methods: This pros...

In vivo measurement of subacromial space width during shoulder elevation: technique and preliminary results in patients following unilateral rotator cuff repair.

BACKGROUND The shoulder's subacromial space is of significant clinical interest due to its association with rotator cuff disease. Previous studies have estimated the subacromial space width to be 2-17 mm, but no study has measured in vivo subacromial space width during shoulder motion. The purpose of this study was to measure the in vivo subacromial space width during shoulder elevation in pati...

BESS/BOA Patient Care Pathways Subacromial shoulder pain

Subacromial shoulder pain is commonly located to the top and lateral side of the shoulder. It is exaggerated by overhead activity and can be associated with night pain. It is usually associated with full passive range of movement of the glenohumeral joint. The pain originates from the subacromial space of the shoulder, an area made up of the rotator cuff tendons and the subacromial bursa. This ...
